I've been noticing this as I watch the games. I thought it was just in my head. Good read if you like getting into the nitty gritty when analyzing for your bets.

Ken Rosenthal and Eno Sarris of The Athletic report that batted balls distances have decreased in 20 stadiums with newly-installed humidors this season.

Rosenthal and Sarris add that average exit velocities are at their highest levels of the Statcast era, which dates back to 2015, but league-wide home run rates this season have plummeted. A massive uptick in strikeouts has arguably been the largest contributor to a lower run-scoring environment, and it's also notable that the latest version of the actual baseball itself has produced higher drag (less fly ball carry) than previous editions. However, based on Statcast barrel data, it's the 20 stadiums with newly-installed humidors that have experienced the largest reductions in batted ball distance so far. The fact that it's been extremely dry in some of these ballparks appears to be the driving force behind the overall reduction in batted ball distance. That will change as temperatures and humidity rise as the season progresses, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect the league's run-scoring environment to drastically change moving forward. The baseball isn't exactly flying anymore due to a variety of factors.

I love baseball betting. Especially overs. Nothing like afternoon action on a baseball game during those hot, lazy, summer days.

I know what you mean.

But yeah, I don't usually care for unders except maybe those huge pitcher's parks. I'm an overs guy. But I'll grab unders live if they score a few unexpected runs early and I can get a good number.

Anyways. Good luck on your bets!

I agree with all of the above. I think overall a lot of offenses are underachieving due to timing being off. And the other things mentioned. But once weather gets even warmer and the players get their timing, those bats will get hot.

The White Sox are definitely on my radar for an offense ready to catch fire. Just have to jump on the train at the right time. Right now they don' t look so good. But with baseball that can change in a hurry and it's all about the streaks.

White Sox for sure.

As with most leagues, best to keep it small until you get a feel for the teams. Some of the weaker teams tend to overachieve early in the season it seems.

I think Cardinals, Mets, Dodgers, White Sox (eventually) and Blue Jays are teams I'll be betting on a lot. Along with Yankees as usual.

I don't understand the Giants...Why do I always have a hard time believing they are good? Lol. And the season passes by and I'm like fuck. They really were good. Then repeat next season.

Meh, rambling. Bored. Fuck I hate work. Especially during the summer. Who wants to be stuck at the office. Sometimes I envy my buddy who works at the railroads. Good money and under the sun laughing with his buddies. Hard work though. Blah blah. Hump day. Almost weekend.
